Herbert von Karajan was for decades the most artistically significant figure of the Salzburg Festival. His artistic vision and sound-aesthetic rewrote the history of interpretation, and continues to exercise their fascination to this day. In cooperation with Deutsche Grammophon, the Karajan Institute presents a new digital series of podcast-styled albums called Spin On Classical Music. The three episodes recorded in Salzburg, present an easy, surprising and entertaining program about classical music, in which Pia Bernauer, Head of the Karajan Archive, and Henry Ladewig, Head of Operations of the Karajan Institute, address classical music from different perspectives, exploring its use in film and television and in its power to convey emotions. The two Karajan experts discuss classical music in an easy and approachable way with a great selection of emblematic works by composers such as Beethoven, Verdi and Mozart. They underlay and intersperse their conversation with recordings of Karajan conducting the Vienna Philharmonic and Berlin Philharmonic orchestras and joined by artists such as Anne-Sophie Mutter among others.
