Mezzo Magic is a rich and warm concert with a romantic flair, where mezzo-soprano extraordinaire Ms Maria Forsström (Sweden), together with Bangalore’s most sought-after and hailed concert pianist, Ms Natallia Kapylova (Belarus/India) will present a programme filled with emotion, drama, love and fire.
The music we will hear will be arias and piano solos from the Romantic era, with pieces by composers such as Edward Elgar, Sergei Rachmaninov, Richard Strauss and Frederic Chopin, all with very different distinct characters and messages.
Maria Forsström is known for her extremely intelligent musicianship and her strong communicative abilities, being equally at ease in a Lieder recital as in the concert repertoire and on the opera stage. Her deep knowledge about style and source reading makes her both the ideal Baroque or Rossini singer, as well as an interpreter of the late Romantic and modern composers. Her vast repertoire spans a wide spectrum, which includes all the standard alto/mezzo orchestra, lieder, oratorio and opera parts, such as Brahms’ Alto Rhapsody and the St. Matthew Passion, which she has performed several times to great critical acclaim.
Bangalore-based, Belarus-born Natallia Kapylova has been hailed as a concert pianist—soloist as well as collaborating with other musicians– of exceptional, brilliant and dazzling ability. Exploration of different genres of music, from classical to the present day, with all the best forms of music in-between, is her forte.
The concert is part of the EastWest Music & Dance Ecnounter 2017
