A delightful Christmas Musical for Families and Children
SYNOPSIS
Amahl, a poor, disabled shepherd boy, lives with his widowed mother in a small hut. Amahl, who often has a wild imagination, tells his mother about what he has seen in the night sky: an enormous star with a long tail! His mother, tired of his tall tales, doesn’t believe him. But there are visitors coming who are following that very star, and soon the mother will have to believe in the star and other wonderful things.
The opera is the story of a small miracle that was part of one of the most momentous times in history, and based on composer Gian-Carlo Menotti’s childhood Christmas tradition where Christmas gifts were brought to children not by Santa Claus but by the Three Kings. The music is lovely and enjoyable including heavenly sacred music pieces.
