Situ Singh Buehler is a lyric/dramatic Soprano, she has sung in 11 languages and specialized in many genres of vocal music as Oratorio, Lieder and Opera arias. Situ has performed abroad with orchestras and choirs as concert soloist and on TV and Radio especially in Germany, South Korea and India. On return to India she discovered many promising voices whom she has been teaching and sharing the treasures of Western Classical Vocal Music. Many have excelled in the Trinity College London Examinations or received scholarships to go abroad with the help of The Neemrana Music Foundation and Inlaks Foundation. Several of these budding singers appear as soloists on stage at concerts and shows in India and abroad! Initially she was trained under Margarita Schack from Germany at the Delhi school of Music encouraged by her father a founder member of the school and Delhi Music Society. She further trained in Germany under the tutelage of Annelise Kupper and Hanno Blaschke of the Music Academy Munich. Her husband, Joachim Buehler a conductor/pianist coached her and guided her through her formative years. They founded the Cantata Choir during his posting in Mumbai as director of Max Mueller Bhavan. Later she performed at the Indo-German festival at Darmstadt Germany. In 1996 she performed a fusion piece specially composed for her at the prestigious Berlin Schauspielhaus. She has also participated several times at the Pan Music Festivals for Contemporary Music. The recently founded Lyric Ensemble of Delhi with mainly her students, has been highly acclaimed for its tonal quality and staged presentations of Opera and Musical Theatre.
