Rupert completed his PhD on Western classical music in India at the University of York, UK. His research interests include music education, performance, psychology, and Western and Indian classical, popular and folk music. His research is located primarily in the fields of ethnomusicology, sociology, and anthropology. Rupert is a Licentiate of the Royal Schools of Music in Cello Performance, has an LCM diploma in Piano Performance, has achieved Grade 8s in violin, viola, classical voice, classical guitar, piano, electric guitar, electric bass, popular music vocals, and keyboards, Grade 5 in folk fiddle and has Grade 1s in sarangi, gayan, and Carnatic voice. He is working towards FRSM in Cello Performance, ALCM in Piano Performance, ATCL in Harpsichord Performance, and grade 8s in organ and drum kit. Rupert is a British Citizen and an Overseas Citizen of India. He is currently International Liaison Officer for the University of York’s Music Department and is training to be an examiner for London College of Music. He is returning to India in January 2020 and is hoping to undertake lecturing, teaching, journalism, workshop, performing and recording work.
