The Poona Music Society was established in 1946 by a group of music lovers to listen to Gramophone records. In the early 1950s the Society acquired a piano and started presenting concerts by visiting foreign artistes. Today the Society is one of the most active non-profit music promoters in India presenting concerts by eminent visiting artistes from all over the world as well as talented young musicians. Its activities also include lectures and workshops by visiting experts for local music students. The Society does not charge any entry fee to its events.
