The Madras Musical Association is currently in its 126th year. The last year was a momentous one for the choir as it held a series of concerts celebrating their landmark 125th year. The MMA Choir, has a rich history and repertoire of performing various kinds of music across genres in every segment. The repertoire is wide and varied - with a good mix of the Classical, Spirituals, Jazz, Pop and some music from the Broadway musicals as well. Perhaps the greatest legacy of the MMA Choir is the stellar role it has played in the spread of Western classical music in the city, clocking about 12 to 14 concerts in a year, on an average in the recent past. The MMA Choir has several laurels to its credit on both the national and International stage. The Choir performed at the 2006 Sydney Olympics, sang for the Pope in 2009 in Rome, performed at the London Olympics in 2012, in Vienna in 2016 and won gold and silver diplomas at the Asia Pacific Choir Games in Colombo in 2017.
